Rocket League Coaching for Champion Players

Champion is where every mechanic is in the toolkit but decision-making lags execution. Champs do GC things, slightly too slowly.

◆ The Champ bottlenecks

Specific mistakes that show up at this tier — and nowhere else.

These are the patterns the worst-possessions list flags most often at Champion. Fix them in order; each one unlocks the next.

  1. Bottleneck 01

Pre-jump reads that commit before the opponent's third touch on the ball

  2. Bottleneck 02

Defensive air dribbles attempted in the box rather than carries out of the third

  3. Bottleneck 03

Pinches set up at the wall instead of off the floor — opponents read the angle every time

  4. Bottleneck 04

Boost economy shifts: a 100-boost player on offense, a 12-boost teammate on defense

◆ Mechanics map

What Champ players have in their toolkit — and what they don't yet.

◆ Common at Champ
  • Flip reset
  • Double touch
  • Stall flip
  • Backboard double tap
▼ Rare / not yet
  • Triple flip-reset
  • Air-roll-only mechanics on every team play
◆ Drill order

What to drill, in this order.

  1. 01

Pre-jump trainer — must hold the jump until opponent's third touch

  2. 02

1v1: every defensive touch must be a carry, not a clear

  3. 03

VOD: tag every 'GC moment' opportunity that was passed up — count them
