Rocket League Coaching for Grand Champion Players

GC is the first tier where the model can't tell you 'do this mechanic.' The bottleneck is shot quality and fake commitment — the kind of stuff RLCS coaches drill on.

◆ The GC bottlenecks

Specific mistakes that show up at this tier — and nowhere else.

These are the patterns the worst-possessions list flags most often at Grand Champion. Fix them in order; each one unlocks the next.

  1. Bottleneck 01

Fakes that telegraph half a second before the actual touch decision

  2. Bottleneck 02

Setups overcooked — three teammate touches when one would have closed the play

  3. Bottleneck 03

Counter-press that arrives at the boost pad simultaneously, costing 50% of the team's stolen boost

  4. Bottleneck 04

Backboard reads on the wrong side — picking the visually clean read over the geometric one

◆ Mechanics map

What GC players have in their toolkit — and what they don't yet.

◆ Common at GC
  • Every mechanic
  • Air-roll-left/right
▼ Rare / not yet
  • RLCS-tier rotations executed at GC tempo
◆ Drill order

What to drill, in this order.

  1. 01

1v1 against an SSL: track Threat-on-shot delta as the leading indicator

  2. 02

Two-man drill: forced first-touch passes, no solo conversions

  3. 03

Replay study: whole-field Threat on every touch — find the one that bled possession
